SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial legislation on Tuesday (Dec 3) for the primary time within the nation since 1980. Below is a Reuters translation of the army decree:
“In order to guard liberal democracy from the specter of overthrow of the ROK regime by anti-state forces lively within the ROK and to guard the protection of the individuals, the next is hereby declared all through the ROK as of 11 p.m.: 00 of three Dec 2024:
1. All political actions, together with the actions of the National Assembly, native councils, political events, political associations, rallies and demonstrations, are prohibited.
2. All acts that deny or try to overthrow the liberal democratic system are prohibited, as are faux information, manipulation of public opinion and false propaganda.
3. All media and publications are topic to the management of the martial legislation command.
4. Strikes, work stoppages and demonstrations that incite social chaos are prohibited.
5. All medical personnel, together with trainee docs, who’re on strike or have left the medical area should return to work inside 48 hours and work faithfully. Those who violate will probably be punished beneath martial legislation.
6. Innocent abnormal residents, excluding anti-state forces and different subversive forces, will probably be topic to measures to reduce disruption to their day by day lives.
