Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, won’t compete within the PGA Tour’s 2025 season-opening event, The Sentry, in January after struggling a hand harm this week.

“On Christmas Day, whereas making ready dinner, Scottie suffered a puncture wound to the palm of his proper hand from a damaged glass,” Scheffler’s manager said in a statement Friday. “He had small fragments of glass left in his palm which required surgical procedure. He was informed he could be again to 100% in three to 4 weeks.”

The Sentry will start Thursday, January 2 on the Kapalua Plantation Course in Maui, Hawaii and conclude on Sunday, January 5. Scheffler’s subsequent scheduled event, The American Express, will happen January 13-19 in La Quinta, California.

Scheffler gained the Hero World Challenge (-25) earlier this month after successful the TOUR Championship in August (-30). He gained a complete of seven PGA Tour occasions in 2024, together with The Masters and The Players Championship.

Scheffler was lately named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third consecutive yr.
